[/style]Jesse Allens is a heartbreaker, for more than one reason. He's a man that was born into his skin, and he moves comfortably in it. He has a face with defined features, from a hard jawline to angular cheekbones. There's something dark about his features, nevertheless, perhaps due to his mixed heritage. His skin is naturally tan during all months of the year, and his hair ranges from dark chocolate brown to black, depending on how much sun he gets at the time. His eyes are, perhaps, one of his most attractive features; the color of dark chocolate, with a sort of doe-eyed expression, they soften his otherwise harsh-features. Half the time. Jesse is a fairly large man, reaching around 5'11" in height and weighing somewhere between 160 and 170. His shoulders are broad, if not as broad as some, and his build is the whipcord, flexible, quick build of a wildcat. He is very fast on his feet, and his entire body is lined in muscles, from his lean arms to the thicker muscle in his chest and his abdomen. His waist is slim and his legs are long.

[/style]A voice like cigarettes, sayin' the sweetest damn things you ever did hear, sayin' these sort of lies that you only get when you're tastin' a bit ah poison, or maybe sin. Yeah, this here boy, he's a taste of sin. It don't matter that the way he moves about in life is like a dancer, it don't matter that when he talks, in that voice like cigarettes, he's saying the sweetest damn thing you ever did hear. This here boy, this here boy is a heartbreaker and a con artist; he'll take away whatever you got, even if it ain't worth a dime, just to say he did it. He's the sort of boy with eyes like hell-fire, with a soul of lead, the sorta boy with an angel on one shoulder, sayin' the sweetest damn things, and the devil on the other (sayin' sweeter things still).
Jesse doesn't have anything to lose, and it’s obvious in the way he acts. He seems nonchalant enough, but he's daring as well. He dances with everything dangerous, teases it, tries to seek a thrill he lost so, so long ago. He is numb to very much in life. He has developed a sense of overwhelming detachment in all that he faces; therefore, he enjoys risks, he takes delight in danger, in a chase.
It should be known that Jesse generally regards life as a game. In fact, that's all he sees life as. A very long, difficult con game. He takes very little seriously. This makes him a dangerous man, if only due to the fact that, at the end of the day, he doesn’t give a damn. Charles Bukowski once wrote the words; "I went to the worst bars hoping to get killed, but all I could do was get drunk again". This describes Jesse to a tee. He lives with a certain amount of reckless abandon, perhaps hoping to get killed, perhaps hoping to find the end of the rope. He doesn't care. He doesn't give a shit. He does not believe in anything in particular, other than power, other than materialistic items. This gives his recklessness a sense of melancholy, as well.
Jesse is charming enough, of course. In fact, he is more than charming enough. This goes hand-in-hand with his way of life. He sees himself as a con man; therefore, he can act and lie and manipulate with the best of them. He puts on a confident face. He is suave and collected; the sort of man that people imagine in suits, the sort of man with a good education and morals. However, he can act like nearly anyone he wants. It is merely a skill he's learned, and he employs this skill often. He is a theft at the end of the day, and it doesn't matter what he steals, whether it is the heart of a woman or her diamond wedding ring.
With that being said, some of Jesse’s favorite “marks” are women. He enjoys stealing things from them. This is, more or less, a vindictive way to seek some sort of closure on the women of his past. He prefers to target women that are married. He finds nothing sweeter than having an affair, of one kind or another, with a woman who has already been taken.
Jesse has a sick sense of humor. Most people would grimace at it. Jesse is also what you could consider a bit of an "alpha wolf". He rebels against most authority, or any control at all. This also includes most control that he can put over himself. Most people, when they want something forbidden, keep themselves from obtaining it. But Jesse has no self-control when it comes to matters of desire. If he sees something he wants, he will obtain it, no matter what it is or what sort of cost it takes.
A trait that goes hand-in-hand with his "alpha male" nature is his ambition. Jesse wants the whole world. In fact, he wants more than that. He wants everything. He is the sort of man with a hunger inside of him, the sort of hunger that only becomes worse with the more he “consumes”. No matter how much he owns, no matter how much money he has, it is never enough. Something that goes hand-in-hand with this personality trait is the fact that he has no limits when it comes to getting what he wants. He has no need for reconciliation. He has no need for forgiveness or morals; and when he does something "bad", he just... doesn't care.
The last thing people ought to know about Jesse is that he is an animal in human skin. He is feral and untamed and unpredictable. He has all the passion of a fire inside of him, burning him up, but he doesn't know what to do with it. He is has a streak of cruelty in him as well, a streak of animal cruelty, a streak of animal emotion. That is the only way to put it. He is feral. It should be noted that he also has a killer streak. He is capable of animalistic cruelty, as well as anger.
LIKES •
freedom; Jesse refuses to answer to anyone or anything. He does not enjoy restrictions of any kind, placed on him by other people or even himself. As a result, one day he may think one thing, and the next another. He is unpredictable when it comes to his morals and his beliefs. But, at the end of the day, Jesse is just as untamed as when he woke up. He does not allow himself to be chained down by the law, by love, or even by himself. If he wants to do something, he will do it. He is ruled by that one primal thing: desire.
danger; He is reckless and impulsive. This is more or less due to the fact that he is always seeking out some form of danger. Jesse is the sort of man who will cockily challenge anyone who comes in his direction. He likes the rush of it. He likes the rush of doing something that he shouldn't. This is, perhaps, why he enjoys flirting with married women. He likes knowing that they have a husband, one that would happily beat his ass into the ground. He’s the sort of man who likes to break his own horses.
pianos/music; He hands the hands of a pianist. Much of his childhood was dedicated to learning how to play it, in fact, and it is one of the only things he will show passion about. Likewise, he has a great interest in all other forms of music, and even dancing.
women; Well, for clarification, he doesn’t like women so much as he likes sex. He does not look for emotional attachment of any kind; he merely looks for a nice, passionate night in the sheets. He sees them as a challenge, in a way, and if there is one thing that Jesse likes it is a challenge.
getting what he wants; As a child, Jesse was denied nothing. He hasn’t ever forgotten this. As a result, he expects to get what he wants, no matter what he has to go through to get it.
guns/weapons; his childhood was, more or less, dedicated to various forms of combat and shooting. He is well-educated when it comes to knives and knife fighting, as well as gun slinging. He is a very good shot.
cigarettes; they are the vice he most-often indulges in.
DISLIKES •
emotional attachments; Jesse is a self-sustaining man, and he prefers not to develop intense relationships with other people. As a result, he often distances himself from them. He fears what would happen if he ever did care for someone again, especially a woman.
being manipulated; He is a master at manipulation; therefore, he normally recognizes the signs of being manipulated. And it something he absolutely hates.
feeling unintelligent; While he is fairly well-educated, coming from a high-class background, he has always had difficulty with reading, writing, and mathematics. While he excelled in artistic subjects, particularly the musical variety, he was always somewhat lacking when it came to books-smarts. He is a cunning man, of course, but when someone brings up the topic of literature he can hardly face the fact that he has such trouble reading. Perhaps it is due to dyslexia, or something along those lines, but he struggles to read even the simplest of literature.
authority; He will not stand for being told what to do. Jesse is free in every sense of the word. He has no attachments to much of anything, and he feels no obligation to follow the law or someone with more of a say-so than himself.
women; He does not trust them. Outside of sex, he does not like using them for much of anything. True, if they give him a reason to, he will respect them. But that doesn’t mean he has to like them. He, more or less, views them as being good for sex and (occasionally) money.
WEAKNESSES •
selfish; Jesse is a man, more or less, interested in what he wants when he wants it. He cares not for other people, and as a result he might step on toes he doesn't mean to at the time. It is true that he's charming, but he often overlooks little details. He rarely considers the well-being of others, and he rarely asks them what they want.
materialistic; This goes hand-in-hand with the fact that Jesse is selfish. He is materialistic in the sense that almost all of his desires consist of the petty kind. He wants things that he can touch, that he can feel. He wants fancy clothes and nice guns and horses. He cares very little for the spiritual aspects of life, or even the emotional kind.
reckless; Jesse always manages to leap before looking. When it comes down to it, he is a very reckless, impulsive individual. He likes the rush of not knowing what will happen, of having some unexpected outcome. This has gotten him into more than one sticky situation. Not to mention, there’s always a part of him that is looking for death. He taunts it, dances with it.
severe temper; typically, Jesse isn’t a very emotional man. He puts up a pretense of nonchalance and amusement. Therefore, when someone strikes a nerve in him, it becomes obvious. Jesse is not the sort of man with a “hot temper”, but he has a cold and analytical one. He’s the sort of man who believes in “a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye”. When someone angers him, he will get even. However, this can often put him into sticky situations.
conceited; pride is the king of sins, no? Jesse often allows his own arrogance to get in the way of what he’s doing. He is bad with submitting to authority, or to anyone, even if he respects them.
STRENGTHS •
no need for reconciliation; unlike many men, Jesse has no need for reconciliation. Most people have difficulty coming to terms with bad things, especially if they were responsible for it. But when it comes to Jesse, he just… doesn’t care anymore. He, more or less, is standing up for himself and himself alone. He’s a man that’s adaptable, simply because he has no limits anymore.
quick on his feet; he is cunning, certainly, and very quick to understand a situation and to adapt to it. There is no doubting his cleverness or his ability to utilize whatever is nearby at the time. He is adaptable, as well, and capable of changing to whatever a situation may deem necessary.
charismatic; he has all the suave charm of a confidence man, and that’s for good reason. He can easily fall into the role of the charismatic aristocrat, or perhaps the charming young man. He is good at both behaving in a suave fashion as well as a rough one. He can adapt himself to the situation, but he is keen when it comes to observing what sort of things people are looking for in other people, and he will fit himself into the role.
women; Well, for clarification, he doesn’t like women so much as he likes sex. He does not look for emotional attachment of any kind; he merely looks for a nice, passionate night in the sheets. He sees them as a challenge, in a way, and if there is one thing that Jesse likes it is a challenge.
FEARS •
women; as strange as it may sound, Jesse has a fear of women. Not of what they can do physically, of course, but what they can do to him mentally. He doesn’t want to fall in love with one, not ever again, not after what happened the first time. Therefore, he makes sure to never allow himself to get too close to them mentally.
dying alone; in this sense, he is a contradiction. Jesse doesn’t want to form emotional attachments with anyone, but he also doesn’t want to die alone, with no one to care for his passing.
"And they've given you a reason to fight."

HISTORY •
Jonathan Allens was a man who enjoyed living an aristocratic life. He was often regarded as a gent of sorts, with old English values (or at least the pretense of them) and a way with words. He had been raised in New York, New York, and he went to school to become a lawyer. However, he had higher ambitions than that, and he quickly set out to gain political favor. He eventually came to own several plantations, and he also had a surplus of money. When it came to politics, he was popular, and his aspirations to become Governor did not seem particularly unrealistic. However, Jonathan Allens lead a double-life. Not all of his success stemmed from mere luck or money, but because he was naturally a form of confidence man. He was a con artist in every sense of the word, and throughout his entire life he had been conning and playing as many people as he could.
Jonathan had many enemies during his lifetime. Some of the more prominent were James Sawyer, a man who was very involved with politics, and disagreed with Jonathan on many things. He has various "underground" enemies as well; men he had wronged when dealing with the illegal side of life. He was involved in casinos, boxing, and drug money. When Jonathan was still young, somewhere in his mid twenties, he met Cassandra White and married her to gain both political favor and her family fortune. However, they hadn't even been married more than a year when he began having his affairs. Even before Cassandra, he had been regarded as a womanizer among the people. The only difference no was that his relationships were kept under the radar. For all the world, Cassandra and Jonathan looked like a happily married couple.
In reality, Cassandra was an alcoholic and Jonathan was a man who grew bored with the easy life, so he dabbled in the illegal kind. He met Maria, a young maid who cleaned his house. He fell for her, and he fell for her hard. Their relationship had more issues than one, of course; his marriage was only a small one in comparison to others. Jesse thought about leaving Cassandra for Maria, despite the political uproar it would cause. Maria was beautiful and kind and intelligent, but she had the fire of a bullet. He wanted to let himself love her, but she was also of mixed heritage. She had Mexican, Hispanic, Spanish, Brazilian, and maybe even Italian in her bloodline--it would not be wise for him to marry someone that was not as white as himself. However, Maria ended up pregnant with Jonathan's one and only son (or at least the only one he knew about). This is where Jesse's story begins.
Cassandra, of course, had known of the affair. When Jesse was born she was furious. Jonathan wanted to keep his son, and Maria could not financially support Jesse on her own. As a result, Jonathan conned the public. If anyone ever discovered that Jesse was his biological son, and that he was not Cassandra's, he loose any chance of becoming Governor, or having any political favor at all. As a result, he pretended to adopt Jesse when he was still a baby.
Jesse grew up in a life of leisure. Jonathan adored his son; meanwhile, Cassandra hated him. Jesse was brought up to believe that he was adopted, and that was easy enough to believe, considering he looked very little like Jonathan (save for the cut of his jaw and, perhaps, the angle of his cheeks). Cassandra was bitter towards Jesse; she treated him cruelly on the best of days. But Jonathan loved him. Jesse was everything Jonathan had ever wanted in a son, and as Jesse grew older, Jonathan lavished him with more than he could ever dream of. Jonathan taught his son both sides of life; the honest and the dishonest. He taught Jesse how to be a politician, as well as how to be a grifter. He got his son the best education money could buy. But Jesse was constantly disappointing his tutors and even his father when it came to academics; true, he excelled when it came to marksmanship, riding, sports, and art. But when it came to books, his brain just didn't lick like it should have. As it is, his father got him a music teacher, and Jesse learned to play the piano.
His teacher was Mrs. Sawyer, the wife of James Sawyer, Jonathan's most vicious political rival. The two of them quickly began to relate. At the time, Jesse was only around fifteen years in age, but he was often regarded as mature beyond his years. The two of them discussed theatre and music, two of the things that Jesse loved most. Despite the fact Mrs. Sawyer was only meant to be his teacher, their relationship quickly progressed into one of friendship, and then it became an affair. Rose (that was Mrs. Sawyer's first name) was over six years older than Jesse, but that concerned him very little. He had fallen for her, and he had fallen for her very, very hard indeed.
From the beginning, the affair was doomed. Jesse tried to convince Rose to run away with him, but she refused. She wasn't willing to tear apart her life for him. Jesse was devastated by this, but it did not make him love her any less. They stole moments together, rushed moments, normally during the middle of a piano lesson or when Mr. Sawyer was away on some political campaign. No one had any idea of their affair. That is, of course, other than Cassandra. She had walked in on the two of them once, without knowing any better, and upon witnessing what she witnessed, she turned and left with none the wiser. However, she began to devise a plan. She was no longer happy with her life. Jonathan had had too many affairs, and Jesse was not her son. Nor could he ever be. Cassandra told Mr. Sawyer about the affair.
He was furious, to say the least. He thought that both Jonathan and Jesse were far too much trouble; more trouble than they were worth, at least. He and Cassandra began to devise a plan for their assassination. However, Mr. Sawyer slipped up. He had confronted Rose Sawyer about her affair, and although she had never loved Jesse as much as he had loved her, she still managed to find a way to warn Jesse about Mr. Sawyer's plan to kill him and his father. However, one warning was too little, too late. One night their house caught aflame. It was not the most effective method of assassination, of course. But Jonathan was killed in the fire, and Jesse was furious at both Mr. Sawyer and Cassandra.
He did not find his revenge immediately, of course. At the time he was only seventeen (two years had passed since his affair with Rose had begun). He inherited his father's sums of money, and he cast Cassandra out on the street. He hated her. He bought himself a nice house, and continued to manage his father's plantations. But he got more and more involved with the art of conning and crime. He was bitter and coldhearted thereafter; he did not allow himself to grow attached to much of anyone. He had loved Rose, and he felt as if she had betrayed him. As a result, he carefully planned the assassination of her husband. Mr. Sawyer was to die. And he did. But nothing went as Jesse had planned. He was caught red-handed, the gun in his hand. Rose was the one who caught him in the act. Rose was the one who had screamed. Rose was the one who had turned him to the authorities.
Jesse left in a haste. He took with him only what was necessary and boarded a train. He did not know where the train was going. He didn't care. He ended up in Texas. And that's where he is now.
"And you're not going to take what they've got to give,"

[/style]
Jesse felt hollow sometimes, and not the sort of hollow that a man could fix with a good glass of bourbon or the company of fancy woman. No, it was the sort of hollow that you were stuck with for life. Of course, Jesse had known this for quite some time, and he wasn't entirely sure as to why he was thinking on it now, with the sound of the bar roaring up around him, deafening him. He had things to do, people to see. He tipped back his glass of whiskey, feeling the burn of it all the way down into his stomach. That chased away the dull ache of hollowness, alright, at least for the time being.
He stood, eyes doing a quick scan of faces nearby. Ah. There she was, with her sparkling earrings and her dress that was a little too low-cut for any proper woman. He approached, a slight swagger to his walk, one that he deliberately put there. He had heard, only that evening, that Mrs. Johnson liked an arrogant man. He smiled for her benefit, a quick knife-edged smile that had a promise in it, and he knew it. Jesse was sitting next to her in no time, taking account of the fact that her dress was expensive, and so were those glittering earrings.
She smiled at him. "Now, I'm a respectable woman. You know that, right, boy? Don't know why you're over here." Of course she didn't. Jesse just smiled that flash of a smile again, feeling himself relax. It was just a con game, right? All he had to do was manipulate her out of those earrings, or maybe that thick wedding ring on her finger. Mrs. Johnson. A wealthy woman about the town. And Jesse needed a little quick cash. "Aw, Mrs. Johnson, I never thought that you were anythin' but downright respectful, y'know. And I'm just over to say hello to a pretty lady, is all. Get to know the women in this town a little better." I'm laying it on a little think, huh? Jesse didn't think much of it, though. He merely took her hand and kissed her lightly on it. "I'm a gentleman, is all. Come down from New York, y'see, and its been a long time since I've seen anyone who even seems like one of 'em aristocrats from the city. You were making me homesick, is all."
And she smiled then, the sort of smile a woman gives when she's flattered, and Jesse knew he had her. "Well, if that's the case, no sense in calling me Mrs. Johnson, mister. Its Jasmine, to you."
- - - - -
Several hours later, Jesse was slinking out of her bedroom, tugging on his trousers and pulling on his shirt. He had a hand-full of her jewelry; of her glittering earrings, of necklace, of what he found stashed in the drawers around her room. What was perfect about this con? Jesse smiled quietly to himself as he slunk out of the room, and then the house. A married women, who would she tell? Honey, all my jewelry was stolen by the man I slept with. No. She couldn't tell her husband, or her friends, or whoever else she might tell. Not without being the scandal of the town.
Jesse hummed under his breath as he walked down the street, a swing in his step. Yeah, that hollow feeling was gone. For now.
